Vent Hatches allow water and air to flow through the Suction Pile during deployment at a controlled rate.

After the unit has reached the sea floor the Vent Hatch is closed by Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) so that the Suction Pile can be depressurised to allow it to be 'sucked' and embedded into the sea floor.

Various configurations are possible depending on the required application. Moffat offer two main designs:
