John Hoffman

Senior Geologist

Mr. Hoffman, Senior Geologist, has over 30 years of experience in marine geology with a strong emphasis on geohazards assessments for oil and gas explorations and productions.  He joined GEMS in 1997.  Prior to joining GEMS Mr. Hoffman was employed as a Project Geologist by Fugro-McClelland Marine Geosciences (1987-1997).  Other employers include Comap Geosurveys, Inc. (1984-1986), Racal-Decca Surveys, Inc. (1982-1984), and Geotechnical Engineering Corp. (1980-1982).  He holds a B.S. Degree in Earth Science from University of Wisconsin, River Falls.  Mr. Hoffman has expertise in interpreting conventional high resolution geophysical and 2-D and 3-D seismic data, ROV target investigations, geophysical and geotechnical offshore operations, logistics, offshore QA/QC, project management, and geohazards assessments.  He has worked at offshore sites throughout North America, South America, China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean Sea.  Mr. Hoffman’s experience also includes shallow and deep water surveys for pipeline route design, production platform design, geochemical, geotechnical, and environmental                                                                                                             sampling, and ROV biological surveys.
