Production Manager

Location: Clearfield, PA

Production Manager shall be responsible for the technical supervision of the fabrication and assembly personnel assigned to their projects.  This includes review of drawing packages for shop execution, resolving of technical issues, and fabrication techniques and philosophies.  This position shall have the authority and responsibility to maintain and/or reduce the actual man-hours for fabrication vs. the as-sold budgets for new project execution.  The position is also responsible for establishing, monitoring, mentoring, and verifying the proper fabrication of assemblies and vessels per ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 as it pertains to Welding, Material Take-off for piping/skid assembly, final assembly of piping components/skid packages, installation of instrumentation and controls, painting, the overall production schedule of numerous simultaneous projects and the quality of the final product.

Determination of manpower needs shall be coordinated with the Plant Manager.  Requests for manpower resources to serve all projects shall be directed to the Plant Manager.

The Production Manager shall make recommendations on promotions or changes of status of welders, fabrication, and assembly personnel.  This position shall also interview new applicants; making recommendations for hiring.  Responsibility shall also include the planning and implementation of internal training programs to continue providing other fabrication personnel with a good knowledge of company products.  The Production Manager shall also be a leader in safety of shop floor activities.

The qualified candidate for the Production Manager must have strong skills in the areas of ASME Code Welding, AWS D1.1 Welding, Piping/Instrumentation/Controls Layout and Fabrication, material scheduling, project fabrication scheduling, and have the ability to multitask with scheduling concerns with ongoing simultaneous projects.

Additional duties include providing input on the development and maintenance of fabrication/assembly standards and workflow procedures.  The Production Manager shall maintain open communications with the Plant Manager. 

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE SPECIALIZED SKILLS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED IN THIS POSITION:

  • ASME Certified Welder with no less than 8 years experience in fabrication of ASME Section VIII or Section I vessels with metal thicknesses up to 2” thick and piping coils/assemblies of carbon steel construction.
  • CWI preferred.   ASNT Level 2 experience a plus.
  • 8 years of related work experience with 2 years in a related supervisory level position.
  • Good communication skills.  Proven Ability to Multitask.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based software programs.
