Process Engineer
Primary Responsibilities and Skills:
Requires extensive experience with the detailed engineering and fabrication of ASME Code Section VIII pressure vessels and other oil field and gas conditioning surface equipment, including specifications, code calculations, rating, sizing and evaluation of design.
- Competency knowledge in stress analysis, shop fabrication drawings, materials of construction, manufacturing, welding, post weld heat treatment (PWHT), non-destructive testing (NDT), hydrostatic testing, shop inspection (QA/QC) and documentation requirements.
- Reviews and prepares P&ID’s, PFD’s, cause and effect/logics and value engineering, and writes process descriptions.
- Possess the knowledge to competently evaluate an existing standard design compared to a new customized design for specific customer applications.
- Demonstrates capability of assisting in troubleshooting operational problems in the field and helping to make recommendations to resolve performance deficiencies through experience in plant operations and/or technical service.
- Possess a broad knowledge of industry standards and has the ability to write and review new engineering specification and guidelines using common industry standards and best practices.
- Demonstrate the ability to coordinate with designers to develop general arrangement and assembly drawings.
- Demonstrates the ability and willingness to embrace new technology, learn how to improve designs, and help develop innovative approaches for problem solving.
- Demonstrate a broad based knowledge of plant control systems and instrumentation schemes.
- Capable of training and guiding the less experienced engineers in any of these technical areas.
- Capable of producing reports and presentations using Microsoft Suite software.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in related process engineering experience in upstream oil field and gas conditioning surface equipment.
- Requires thorough knowledge of ASME Code Section VIII Division 1 & 2, API 12F, OSHA terms and guidelines.
- Advanced knowledge of AutoCad software, SolidWorks preferred; Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications.
Standard Requirements:
Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting and reaching will all be required occasionally in this position.
- Sitting for long periods of time.
- Lifting 10 pounds maximum with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
- May be required to work at heights of up to 25 feet.
- Must meet all OSHA regulations and must wear all required PPE when in the shop environment.
