Forum Energy Technologies is a global oilfield products company, serving the subsea, drilling, completion, production and infrastructure sectors of the oil and natural gas industry.  The Company’s products include highly engineered capital equipment as well as products that are consumed in the drilling, well construction, production and transportation of oil and natural gas. This position is in Surface Production Equipment Business of the company which manufactures process equipment packages like Separators, Filters, Slug catchers, Packed & Tray Towers, Line Heaters, Heater Treaters, Glycol Dehydration, Condensate Stabilization and other process equipment packages.

Candidate will be involved in leading the product standardization and new product development programs of Surface Production Equipment packages based on company strategy and business intelligence. Individual should have strong technical knowledge and skills to develop process P&IDs, sizing & design of equipment, and ensure manufacturing drawings and bills of materials (BOM) meets design requirements. Individual will work closely with Sales & Marketing to translate the customer needs into a marketable solution using company’s product portfolio.  Reviews and analyzes documentation, materials, Code calculations, and design equipment to ensure compliance with customer, product, safety, quality, and industry standards and requirements.  Function as a technical team leader or a significant contributor to multi-discipline project team. Sets engineering standards and direction focused on continuous improvement, increased efficiency, and cost reduction.

This is a senior level position and it is required that individual have a broad knowledge and experience in layout of upstream and midstream Oil & Gas production facilities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Lead engineering team on new product development from concept stage to detail design including introduction to the market.
Work with team of Engineers & Designers to manage the product standardization program. This includes, setting up design basis, conceptual layout, detail design for fabrication with economic consideration and manage the timeline and quality of deliverables.
Establish schedules and sets up regular status review meetings with engineering/design team to ensure all tasks assigned on projects are completed in a timely manner.
Depending on qualification and skills (Mechanical, Process, etc.) individual will contribute as a team member in the development of products and solutions.
Collaborate with other engineers to prepare technical specification for purchased equipment, conducts vendor bid analyses and selects equipment; reviews vendor documentation for conformance to the requirements of design.
Collaborate with other engineers to perform control valves and instrumentation sizing and selection for an application; candidate should have good understanding of functional limitations and basics of control instrumentation.
Collaborate with other engineers to perform hydraulic and heat transfer calculations for the design of equipment as required.
Work closely with designers/drafters and outsource engineering company to ensure that vessel, structural, and assembly drawings and BOM meets design requirements. Review equipment package layout and optimize design for manufacturability, cost, accessibility and operability.
Organize HAZOP reviews with participation from engineering team, manufacturing, field services and safety group to ensure equipment design meets the requirement of the company’s standards and safe engineering practices.
Maintain product design information, this includes, process design, P&IDs, design and sizing calculation for equipment & instrumentation, detail design drawings & BOMs.
Support Sales & Marketing in customer meetings to understand their requirements and work out a technical solution.
Prepare new product marketing presentation, literature, brochures and operation manual.
Work on equipment packages with all levels of complexity for onshore applications with minimum support.
Provide status updates of all activities to leadership team.
Lead engineering team and add to the knowledge base of the discipline and mentors other engineers to further their command and understanding in all skill sets.
Sets the level of performance expectations that are required for the project, and leads by example.
Works on special projects as assigned.


Advance knowledge of Oil & Gas ASME, ANSI and API engineering standards including codes and regulations affecting design development. 
Knowledge of ASME pressure vessel Code and calculations using COMPRESS or similar calculation software.
Candidate must be capable to read, understand and develop P&IDs for Oil & Gas industry process equipment.
Requires extensive experience with the detailed engineering and fabrication of ASME Code Section VIII pressure vessels and other oil field and gas conditioning surface equipment, including specifications, code calculations, rating, sizing and evaluation of design.
Competency knowledge in shop fabrication drawings, materials of construction, manufacturing, welding, post weld heat treatment (PWHT), non-destructive testing (NDT), hydrostatic testing, shop inspection (QA/QC) and documentation requirements. 
Familiarity or working experience with engineering software like, Hysys, Promax, Ansys, SolidWorks simulation. 

Good knowledge on use of SOLIDWORKS or similar 3D CAD design software. Understanding of 3D parametric modelling skills highly desirable but not required.

Good organization, presentation and project planning skills.
Must be capable of managing multiple standardization and product development program simultaneously.
Candidate should have excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.
Candidate shall be proficient in the use of general computer software like Word, Excel, and Access.


Four year degree from accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or related field.


10 plus years of engineering and design experience with Oil & Gas production equipment package design or similar experience with process equipment manufacturer.
Work experience in layout of Oil & Gas production facilities.
