Manages, mentors and coordinates activities for The Catwalk (tubular Handling) Engineering Team. Works independently and with his/her team in the design and development of tubular handling equipment to meet customer's needs or market demands. Uses engineering knowledge to conceptualize analyze and execute designs, to include structural and hydraulic. Develops engineering documentation such as Functional Design Specifications (FDS), manufacturing drawings, schematic and material specifications. Assists and conducts Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and recommends course of action. Performs product testing at the manufacturing facility or in the field as required. Is responsible for the On Time Delivery (OTD) of engineering documentation to Sales, Manufacturing and Project Management as scheduled.
This incumbent is considered a leading authority in the engineering field, both within the organization, and outside the organization by other recognized experts in the field.
This individual is the final point of consultation in the most complex of engineering problems.
Advanced knowledge of engineering standards including codes and regulations affecting design development.
Must be able to perform and review Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and understand its applicability when comparing to hand calculations.
Uses time efficiently between scheduling/managing tasks and other technical engineering duties
Advanced expertise with parametric design software, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, ProE or alike. Possesses working knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM/Vault). Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) experience is a plus.
Well versed in Microsoft Office Suite of products, Word, Excel.
Possesses basic understanding of oil and gas well drilling operation
Prior Structural design experience preferred
Agricultural equipment design background with emphasis in power transmission hydraulic design is a plus
Background in drilling/tubular handling is a plus
BS in engineering discipline
10+ years of experience in design, product development.
Previous people management position desired.
Drilling field experience or manufacturing environment experience is a plus
